One of the main issues related to the reliable operation of cyber-physical and networked control systems concerns how to handle network imperfections such as limited bandwidth, delay, and packet loss. In this paper, we address the issue of packet loss, and design a mechanism for packet-loss detection from process measurements. The proposed scheme, which is based on moving-horizon estimation, permits to detect when the packet-loss rate exceeds prescribed thresholds that are representative of closed-loop stability. A numerical example is discussed to substantiate the analysis.

Abstract
One of the main issues related to the reliable operation of cyber-physical and networked control systems concerns how to handle network imperfections such as limited bandwidth, delay, and packet loss. In this paper, we address the issue of packet loss, and design a mechanism for packet-loss detection from process measurements. The proposed scheme, which is based on moving-horizon estimation, permits to detect when the packet-loss rate exceeds prescribed thresholds that are representative of closed-loop stability. A numerical example is discussed to substantiate the analysis.File in questo prodotto:
