Abstract

MedCoast AgroCities rethinks about the identity of coastal rural cities in the Mediterranean area and about the relationship that links the rural landscape with the city itself, through territorial strategies (economic, energetic, environmental, cultural and social), integrated with the application of new technological systems and innovative planning approaches. This study proposes new operational strategies for the development of the Mediterranean agro-urban areas through a new proactive model that follows the United Nations SDGs. Linked to this research is the open source website ‘MedCoast-AgroCities’, focussed on Mediterranean Coastal Agricultural Cities, which is intended to become a useful tool for experimentation and cultural dissemination (www.agrocities.com).
